Executive Director

TCS seeks a part-time Executive Director responsible for the leadership, strategic vision, administration, and concert production of the choir. Working with the Artistic Director and reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will further the choir’s vision of a future where choral singing is a vibrant part of a just and equitable society.

Objectives of this Role

  • Provide executive direction for fiscal, logistical, operational, and other administrative decisions,
  • Serve as a spokesperson and a public face of the organization 
  • Execute the fundraising strategy for the organization; not limited to grant applications, developing relationships with funders and cultivating individual donors
  • Oversee marketing and promotion to increase visibility, credibility, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and engagement 
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to deliver a dynamic and engaging experience for TCS members, audiences, our partners, donors, and the public
  • Work closely with Board of Directors, Artistic Director, and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the organization, including selection of all administrative personnel 
  • Work with the Artistic Director to present monthly reports to the Board, prepare annual budget, and prepare and manage grant applications and awards
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director to prepare annual budget, strategic plan, and annual reports
  • Develop and execute an actionable fundraising plan
  • Participate in and work with volunteers and board on fundraising events 
  • Meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with Board of Directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
  • Manage overall marketing campaigns, as well as community and promotional activities for the chorus
  • Participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and engagement
  • Oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, and social media

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, music, arts administration, or related field;
  • Commitment to TCS’ values (see below) and dual mission of artistic excellence and social impact
  • Experience managing community, religious, or school-/university-based choruses
  • Residence in the greater Washington, DC area
  • Experience in concert production
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Lived leadership and commitment to furthering the access, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI) work of the ensemble

Compensation Range: $20,000 – $25,000

  • March 2024: Selection committee reviews applicants and invites selected candidates to a first-round interview
  • April 2024: First- and final-round interviews occur
  • May 2024: Offer extended
  • May 11, 2024: New Executive Director announced at TCS May Concert
