Soprano Kate Vetter Cain’s “sweetness of timbre and vocal power” (The Washington Post) has led to collaboration with some of our region’s most beloved ensembles. She has sung for many seasons as a soloist and ensemble member with the Washington Bach Consort in all of Bach’s vocal masterworks and over sixty cantatas. Kate has served as a soloist for the National Chamber Players with conductor Leonard Slatkin, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra with conductor Marin Alsop, Washington Concert Opera with conductor Antony Walker, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Cathedral Choral Society, Folger Consort, Bach in Baltimore, Washington Ballet, DC’s In Series, Ash-Lawn Highland Festival, Caramoor Festival Opera, Tanglewood Music Center, and off-Broadway with The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players.  She has performed as a professional chorister with Chantry, Cathedra, Washington National Cathedral, Trinity Church Wall Street, and St. John’s Georgetown. Kate earned a BA from Yale University, a MM from Manhattan School of Music and a DMA from the University of Maryland, and served for nine years as lead music teacher at a bilingual DC public charter school.  Kate is passionate about teaching voice. She maintains a in-person and online voice studio in Washington, DC at www.katevettercain.com, and works as a voice coach with choral groups in Baltimore and DC.  Kate is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
