Serve as a Board Member
Board membership is a great way to share your skills to help us continue our mission of bringing impactful choral performances and partnerships to the Washington, D.C., region. Board members provide expertise in our monthly hybrid board meetings from August or September through June, promote our concerts (striving to ‘sell’ 5 tickets per concert), serve on a committee, and are annual fund donors. We strive to keep the board balanced between singing and non-singing members. While we are interested in potential board members with expertise in board development, marketing and communications, finance and accounting, just a willingness and ability to help is deeply valued.

Serve on a Committee
Access, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) Committee
Description: The ADEI committee is responsible for ensuring that TCS is a truly inclusive organization across our membership, Board of Directors, audience, repertoire, and beneficiary partners. To achieve this goal, the ADEI committee works with the Artistic Director, Executive Director, and Board Chair to make sure that we are not unintentionally erecting barriers to participation for singers or Board members based on race, ability, gender, class, age, orientation, religion or any other axis of oppression. The ADEI committee does not attempt to solve all systemic inequities in choral music, but rather to minimize their impact on TCS so that we can achieve our dual mission of musical excellence and positive social change.

Development Committee
Description: The TCS Development Committee supports all giving for the organization. It supports the annual development plan commensurate with the financial needs of the organization’s budget, brainstorms new ideas to raise money throughout the year and educate singers and other Board Members on the importance of recruiting and cultivating donors. In addition, this committee is responsible for special events planning, and supporting donor stewardship.

Partner Engagement Committee
Description: The Partner Engagement Committee carries out TCS’s aims toward enriching the Washington D.C. region through impactful musical performances and partnerships. Focused on our partnership efforts, this committee solicits potential partner organizations and makes recommendations for Board approval. Once a partner is chosen, the committee will maintain TCS’s relationship with the selected partner organization throughout the performance season, foster communication and interaction between the partner and singers/Board members, and promote singer participation in partner events and activities.
In addition, the Partner Engagement Committee will seek meaningful engagement by the partner organization with TCS: for example, partner leadership meeting with the singers/TCS Board; coordinating TCS volunteering at the partner organization’s facility; cross-promotion between both organizations through newsletters and media; and other interactions aimed at deepening the relationship between TCS and the partner organization.
