Love’s Echoes

October 24 @ 5:00 pm

Love leaves echoes across time and memory. Our opening program explores love in its many forms, romantic, spiritual, and familial, through music by Gwyneth Walker, Samuel Barber, Thomas LaVoy, Joanna Marsh, and others. Walker’s lush A Heart in Hiding, a 2006 TCS commission setting the poetry of Emily Dickinson, captures love’s exhilaration and mystery, while Barber’s beloved The Coolin offers a timeless invitation between lovers. Joanna Marsh’s powerful Everlasting Covenant expands the theme outward, pairing Dickinson’s reverence for the natural world with the prophet Isaiah’s warning against its destruction. Together these works invite us to reflect on the connections that continue to shape our lives long after they are first forged.
